Manager

Leader

Leadership of others begins when control is surrendered and trust is built.

You've made the identity shift. Now comes the harder work โ€” learning to lead people you can't control, building trust you have to earn, and letting go of the need to have all the answers. This two-day program equips managers to become genuine leaders of people.

Step 4 Leading the Organisation

You're managing.
But are you leading?

There's a big difference between holding a management title and actually leading people. Most managers are doing one while trying to look like they're doing the other โ€” and their teams know it.

The shift from manager to leader isn't about learning more techniques. It's about letting go of control, building real trust, and developing the people around you.

  • You find it easier to do the work yourself than to delegate it properly
  • You're not sure how to coach performance without coming across as critical
  • Trust with your team feels fragile โ€” or hasn't been fully rebuilt since your promotion
  • You avoid difficult conversations until problems become crises
  • You know you need to develop your people but don't know where to start
  • You react under pressure in ways you later regret
The Core Issue
"If I always have the answers, others will never grow."

Step 2 moves beyond identity into influence. Drawing on DiSC profiling, Emotional Intelligence, the GROW coaching model, and the Crucial Conversations framework โ€” and grounded in the Killing the CEO thread of surrendering the false self โ€” this program equips you to lead people, not just manage tasks.

What the LifeRoad Logo Means

The arrow meeting the vertical line represents a critical moment โ€” stagnation, setback, or a challenge to navigate. The gap between the arrow and the line is where you are, and where we work. Through partnership and commitment, we create the path towards breakthrough, growth and success.

Two days.
Eight modules.
One leadership leap.

Day One โ€” Self & Others
1
Self Awareness โ€” DiSC & Identity
The story I believe about myself shapes how I treat others
2
Emotional Intelligence
What I feel is real โ€” but it may not be true
3
Coaching for Performance
If I always have the answers, others will never grow
4
Delegation & Empowerment
Control may feel safe, but it creates limitation
Day Two โ€” Leading Others
5
Influence & Trust
People follow who they trust, not just who is in charge
6
Accountability & Conflict
What I tolerate becomes what I lead
7
Developing People
People are not resources, they are a responsibility
8
Leading Through Others โ€” Integration
If everything depends on me, I am the problem

How It's Delivered

Step 2 is built around your real leadership challenges โ€” not hypothetical scenarios. Using DiSC profiling, experiential activities, coaching practice, and deep personal reflection, you'll develop skills you can apply immediately. You'll leave with a concrete 90-day plan focused specifically on leading through others.

Real shifts.
Not just insights.

๐Ÿชž
Deep self-awareness through DiSC โ€” understanding your style, blind spots, and impact on others
โค๏ธ
Emotional intelligence skills to recognise triggers, regulate responses, and lead under pressure
๐ŸŽฏ
Practical coaching tools โ€” including the GROW model โ€” to develop your people without doing the work for them
๐Ÿคฒ
The confidence to delegate effectively, release control, and build genuine ownership in your team
๐Ÿฆ
A trust framework โ€” knowing how to build, rebuild, and protect trust as a leader
๐Ÿ“‹
A personalised 90-day action plan focused on leading through others, not just alongside them

Who This Is For

Step 2 is built for you ifโ€ฆ

  • You've completed Step 1 or you're already in a management role leading direct reports
  • You know how to manage tasks but want to become someone people genuinely choose to follow
  • You're a Christian business owner or leader who wants to lead with integrity, empathy and faith
  • You struggle to delegate and find yourself carrying work that others should own
  • You want to develop your people โ€” not just manage their performance
  • You're ready to move from control to trust as your primary leadership currency

This program is not for you ifโ€ฆ

You're looking for quick management tips or a checklist approach to leadership. Step 2 requires genuine reflection on how you show up for others โ€” it will challenge your need for control and your assumptions about how leadership works.

Darren brings 25 years of leadership experience โ€” from teaching, to outdoor education facilitation, to a decade as CEO of Emu Gully Adventure Education Group, where he led the organisation through rapid growth, COVID, significant cultural transformation, and eventually, personal burnout.

That journey โ€” including the diagnosis of major depressive disorder and his eventual, complete surrender โ€” became the foundation of both his book and the LifeRoad Leadership Pathway. The DiSC and Emotional Intelligence frameworks Darren uses in Step 2 were central to his own leadership transformation โ€” from a reactive, control-driven CEO to a leader who learned to trust, develop, and release others. He teaches from lived experience.
